A burial mix-up in Bukwo District has left a family devastated after they discovered they buried the wrong body.
Due to a swap at a Bukwo general Hospital mortuary, the Batilu clan from kaptererwa had mistakenly interred a sabiny man of kapchesakas clan instead of their own.

Chesekia, died at Bukwo General Hospita after a long illness.The error was only discovered after the family of Chesekia came to the mortuary to pick his body only to find the body wasn’t theirs.
Boyo Stephen said they left home to pick the body of the late Chesekia from the mortuary but found that the body wasn’t there. They later wrote a statement at the police station and after inquiry some family from kaptererwa came and identified the body to be theirs

Naliaka Mary the deceased sister Batilu clan said the corpse were not given tags, she also added that Despite some family members raising concerns about the body’s identity, elders dismissed them on assumptions that the fridge could have changed the appearance.
Bukwo General Hospital Mortuary administration issued an apology through the Hospital Chairperson Mr Wanjala Cedrick and said the same mistake won’t repeat again.
Tension has gripped the local community, with villagers scared of the graveyard where Ngeywo lies buried.
Police say exhumation needs a court order, Ngeywo’s family remains on edge, unsure of what the future holds.
