Kapmonges Akram, the Kapchorwa District Registrar, appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kapchorwa today, July 21, 2025. He faces four counts, including forgery, uttering false documents, falsification of registers, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

According to the charges, Akram allegedly committed forgery contrary to Section 234 of the Penal Code, uttered false documents contrary to Section 32 of the Penal Code Act, falsified registers contrary to Section 366 of the Penal Code Act, and conspired to commit a felony contrary to Section 4362.

Akram pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court remanded him until September 4, 2025, for further hearing.

On Sunday 20th July 2025, NRM’s Central Executive Committee nullified the July 17 Kapchorwa primaries due to irregularities. A fresh election will be held by August 10.

The district registrar, Akram Kamonges, was dismissed and replaced by Isaac Chepkurui. Aspirants like Susan Chemutai welcomed the move as a step toward fairer elections. The party pledges transparency and peaceful participation going forward.
